It is a common story in the Christian life that although God calls us to something wonderful, we often get discouraged along the way and settle for something mediocre. Over time it is easy to water down what God promises us, and as a result, we move the goalpost. The enemy can not stop God's plan for our life, but he will do all he can to get us to settle for less.
