Proverbs 3:9–10
It Honors God

Tithing acknowledges that everything we have comes from Him. It's a first-fruits posture — giving before we spend.

Malachi 3:10
It Builds Trust

When we give first, we trust God to provide for the rest. It's faith made tangible through our finances.

Malachi 3:10
It Fuels God's Work

Tithes support the church's mission — reaching people, meeting needs, and making a lasting difference.

Matthew 6:21
It Shapes Our Hearts

Giving loosens the grip of money and aligns our priorities with God's. Where our treasure goes, our heart follows.

Common Questions

Tithing isn't about obligation — it's an opportunity to participate in what God is doing. Here are answers to questions we hear most often.

  • Why would I tithe?

Tithing is one of the most practical ways to put God first in our lives. It's an act of trust — declaring that God is our provider, not our paycheck. Here's what Scripture shows us:

    • It honors God – Acknowledging that everything we have comes from Him. (Proverbs 3:9–10)
    • It builds trust – Giving first trains our hearts to rely on God's provision. (Malachi 3:10)
    • It fuels God's work – Tithes fund the church's mission locally and beyond. (Malachi 3:10)
    • It shapes our hearts – Generosity loosens the grip of money on our lives. (Matthew 6:21)

  • How much do I tithe?

The word "tithe" literally means tenth. A tithe is 10% of your income, given back to God.

It is typically given first — not from what's left over. (Proverbs 3:9)

For many, this is a starting point in generosity — not the finish line. As we grow in faith, many find joy in giving above and beyond the tithe.

  • Where in the Bible does it say to tithe?

Tithing is woven throughout Scripture — from the earliest pages of Genesis to the New Testament:

    • Genesis 14:20 – Abraham gives a tenth to Melchizedek
    • Leviticus 27:30 – "A tithe… belongs to the Lord"
    • Malachi 3:10 – "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…"
    • Matthew 23:23 – Jesus affirms tithing while calling for a right heart
    • Hebrews 7:1–10 – References Abraham's tithe, showing its lasting significance
  • Is tithing just a financial decision?

Not at all. Tithing is about trust, obedience, and putting God first — the money is the expression, not the point. The act of giving is as much about forming your heart as it is about the dollars.

If you're in a difficult financial season, we encourage you to express generosity in other ways — serving on a team, praying for the church, or giving your time to others.

  • Where does my tithe go?

Your tithe goes directly toward the mission of Victory Church — funding our ministries, empowering outreach in Antioch and beyond, and maintaining our church as a welcoming home for worship.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. None of the work we do would be possible without God moving the hearts of our people to give.
